Getting to know Rob as a great friend

Created by Marc 6 years ago

I got to know Rob nearly 12 years ago when I lived in England for one year. I met him at Club Sandwich Korfball and we soon discovered Rob used to go to University with my better half Lynsey.

Rob picked me up from Eythorne every week and we always had a great time talking about the match, our work, music,  about being men and therefore being awesome! I also never forget watching the Dutch film ‘Simon’ with Rob, which was a drama about cancer. We didn’t realise back than what this would mean later on in life.

After one year I moved back to the Netherlands but we continued to see each other several times a year on epic pub crawls, Rob drove to Rotterdam for my stag night and I will never forget how we continued our pub tours even when Robwas getting seriously ill. We just went to pubs asking for Becks Blue.

I have admired Rob’s will to fight for hislife with such determination, his will to continue working and making a difference as a teacher.

I have not had a better friend during my adult life with whom I could share everything. I miss him dearly and I hope that if there is something after this life, we will meet again and can play Mario Kart Wii, drink two double cubans each and tell each other awesome stories!
